6cyclemind is the result of a group of friends’ desire to play and create music. A small village in San Mateo became the witness of the memories of song writings and friendship. Around two years after being formed and playing from no pay to small budget gigs, 6cyclemind got their break and signed a three-album contract with BMG Pilipinas (now Sony BMG Music Entertainment). Late 2003, their debut album “Permission to Shine” was released. After several hits and nominations, the band got back to the studio to record their second album which they released October of 2005.
Entitled “Panorama” under the merged company, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, the album was able to beat the sophomore jinx with each of the singles released proving to be hits. The album was soon a certified Gold Record by December 2006.
Amidst all the busy schedules, 6cyclemind managed to record and release two albums on 2007. January 2007, “Home”, which showcased the band’s rendition of several songs which they most feel at home with, was released. Home was declared a gold record late 2007. Come October of the same year, their latest offering “Fiesta” came out in the market, featuring songs which capture the mood of Philippine festivals. In 2009, the band shares precious collection of songs which they collaborated with other artists in special projects through the years of their career, in album “Project 6Cyclemind” (June 2009).
They pride themselves with being the first ever band endorser for Tanduay Rhum (country’s number one rum) that launched a massive campaign for the brand entitled Tanduay’s First Five with four other premiere bands touring nationwide. Billboards galore from endorsements have made the band’s success even more evident. It is not a secret though that 6cyclemind toiled hard before earning the prime spot that they are currently in. The band may have come from different backgrounds with their passion for music, but nevertheless found each other and pursued one path.
In between all the promotions and projects that 6cyclemind goes around with, the band still managed to squeeze in several projects such as the following: “Alapaap” (“Ultraelectromagnetic Jam: A tribute to the Eraserheads”); “Bonggahan” (“Hopia Mani Popcorn: The Best of Manila Sound”). They have been also commissioned by the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. to be the performer for “Sagot Kita”, the theme of their project S4S (Schools for Schools).
6cyclemind’s fourth album, “Fiesta”, their first from the renewed three-album contract under Sony BMG Music Entertainment was a success. The carrier single, “Magsasaya”, proved to be another hit, and follow-up single, “Aaminin”, has been number 1 on MYX Daily Countdown for consecutive weeks (late April-May). Their single “Saludo” never failed to continue topping hit charts which also happened to be the theme of the campaign for Filipino athletes by SMART Telecoms, one of the biggest telecoms company in the country.
The band, known for their string of unforgettable music videos, created an interesting approach on the music video for “Gusto Na Kita” which starred ABS CBN’s Going Bulilit kids.
6cyclemind wrapped up promotions for their fifth album, “Project 6Cyclemind”, which was launched last July 15, 2009 at Redbox, Trinoma. After the success of the album’s carrier single, “Walang Iwanan”, they released their very interesting single entitled, “Kasalanan”, collaborated with critically-acclaimed rap artist, Gloc 9. “Kasalanan” topped various radio countdowns and MYX hit charts. It received the Favorite Music Video award on the annual Myx Music Awards. Continuing their success, June of 2010, 6cyclemind released, “Kung Wala Na Nga”, an upbeat single featuring Kean Cipriano and Yeng Constantino, which entered MYX Hit Charts and radio countdowns. It received the Favorite Music Video Collaboration award on the 2011 MYX Music Awards.
The band has proven that throughout their ten years of creating, performing and living music, they are one of the top caliber bands in the Philippines. But like majority of bands in the music industry, they had their share of member changes as well. Now, 6cyclemind is joined by their new guitarist Herbert Hernandez (also the lead guitarist of Moonstar88) and new drummer Vic Aquino. Both have been considered by the band as their long time family members even before their union with the band. A more obvious change however is Tutti’s taking center stage as 6cyclemind’s Front Man versus playing drummer duties before. Definitely, this new lineup has brought a new flavor to the band and its music.
Minders (6cyclemind fans) can expect nothing but the best from the new reinvented 6cyclemind. Tutti, one of 2010’s Cosmo’s hot bachelors, never fails to bring the house down during live gigs with his contagious energy and broader popularity due to his more frequent TV and movie appearances (hosting stint in ABS CBN’s Music Uplate Live with Yeng Constantino and acting roles in movies “Praybeyt Benjamin” with Vice Ganda among others). Moreover, a fresh set of songs from their newest album, Good By Sunday with its first single Basta Ako, add to their repertoire of sure-fire hits during performances.
Currently celebrating their 10th year anniversary, 6cyclemind, with their talented producers Raymund Marasigan and Buddy Zabala of The Eraserheads and American producer Jessie Grinter, offers their 6th album as a gift to their loyal fans and colleagues in the music industry. It promises to send out a different vibe from what people usually expect from the band. Fans will definitely move forward and expect another ten years of exciting music from the band!
Through this new album, 6cyclemind has yet again proven that they are not just a band but a brand that produces GREAT MUSIC!
