It's the 47th theater season of performance arts for the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) and they open up with the announcement of the programming of shows for the year 2014. There will be more original Filipino productions with some reruns like the hit rock-comedy musical, Rak Of Aegis; and contemporary hiphop adaptation of the Francisco Baltazar's classic, Florante At Laura.
Not only are they catering local productions but they will also be hosting international performances and events. PETA will be in collaboration with the Japan Foundation Manila in presenting Strong Boy, Deaf Boy, and a Girl in an Abaya. The British Council Manila and PETA will also offer The Price of Everything and There We Have Been.
Aside from the performances staged at the PETA Theater Center, some of their productions are still on tour like Christine Bellen's Mga Kwento Ni Lola Basyang, Batang Rizal and Ron Capinding's William.
This year, PETA continues to offer creative Filipino works but also wants to introduce the non-verbal productions that are currently trending on the global theater community. They also say that having more foreign productions here in the Philippines this year won't pose threat to local production but will enrich creative awareness to the Filipino audience.
