PHARRELL WILLIAMS Wasn't The First Person To Record "Happy"!

Guess who recorded "Happy" before Pharrell... Times up. It was Cee Lo Green!

"Happy" has been pumping the airwaves with its hip beat and mood-boosting lyrics for quite some time now, and Pharrell has definitely reached new heights with this track, but it turns out, this infectious smash-hit was originally recorded by the Forget You singer.

The hitmaker himself made the big revelation! "[Cee Lo Green] wanted to do it…and he did do it," Williams explained in a recent radio interview, after the jock asked if he would have ever considered giving the song to "a Robin Thicke or someone."

"He sounded amazing on it, he burns my version! But... how do I say this diplomatically? The powers that be, at the time, did not see it fit for him. Some folks on his team just felt that the priority should be on [his] album at the time, so they elected not to do that song."

"There was a much bigger agenda [for him], he had an album to put out. It's not his fault – he was totally down with it... He was one of the most gracious people about it when [Happy] came out," he added.
