Battle Of The Boy Bands: 90's VS. Now!

It all started with the "mania" for a certain British rock band in the '60s, and everything sprang from there. Since the guys from One Direction - the latest UK boy band to hit the scene - have now been made into action figures and different kinds of merchandise, it looks like everything has come full circle. Over the last couple of years, there have been a number of synchronized, harmonizing boy bands, each of them just a bit different from the last.

With the recent resurgence of boy bands both new and old, we’ve decided to look back at our favorite boy bands of the ’90s, the decade where those sweet, sweet harmonies (and even sweeter dance moves) all really started and compare them with the newest boy bands today!

Hair

Curly tops, curtain centre-part, frosted tips, and fringes basically makeup the 90's boy band hairstyle. Today, it's made up of sleek and well-groomed hairdos! Just take a look at the two photos below and make your pick.

Fashion

Back in the 90's, men's fashion sense in pretty much characterized by baggy outfits and a single color theme going. But today, you'd always see them in their suits, nice fitting slacks and matching shoes.

Music Videos

90's boy bands really make an effort with their music videos. Every time they break into synchronised dancing, the girls back then would scream out of excitement. Videos of the 90's also often have futuristic set-ups and a certain 'plot'. Today, most music videos are consisted of partying, set-ups in the beach and a whole lot of 'normal day' themes.

Choreography

Boy bands in the 90's often, if not always, showcase a bit of synchronised danicng, wether it is in their music videos or in their live performances. Today, we rarely see them dance to beat of their songs but rather, they'd be carrying their musical instruments with them!

Music

The 1990s saw the continuation of teen pop and dance-pop trends which had emerged in the 1970s and 1980s. Furthermore, hip hop grew and continued to be highly successful in the decade. Today's boy band music consists of R&B or pop influences, other music genres, most notably country music and folk music, are also represented.

Nobody can deny that the 90's songs is cool. I like NSYNC songs especially Westlife. Everytime the 90's song played in the radio in our car, I'm not gonna deny that it makes me LSS. I am a hard core directioner. Still, I love both of the generations. :)
