Evanna Lynch, known for her role as Luna Lovegood in the "Harry Potter" films, participated in several relief programs in Tacloban for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda, which devastated the area late last year.
The actress arrived earlier this week along with the UNICEF team. Since her arrival, she has been sharing her experiences from her trip via her Instagram
account. Take a look at the photos below:
"First photo I took after landing in Tacloban... The airport is pretty much just a shack in the wake of the typhoon and this is all construction but the colours and the countryside were so pretty. Life has been beautifully simplified here and everywhere people are united in their efforts of restoration. Feeling very lucky to be a part of what the UNICEF Ireland team are doing here..."
"The youth group in Abucay Bunkhouse performing from the UNICEF child friendly tent!! Thank you for welcoming us!!"
"Vanessa is 14 years old and president of the youth group. She survived the typhoon and is the brightest, kindest young girl I've ever met. She wants to be a photojournalist so our videographer, Darragh gave her a go :)"
"Playing catspy in Tacloban. Ginger-est typhoon survivor."
"Just helped to immunise a tiny, teeny, tiny baby. And so life gets stranger and stranger."
"Favourite moment of the trip so far. We were walking through the No Dwelling zone of Tacloban, feeling a bit depressed and hopeless by all the sad things we saw when this group of young girls ran after us, grabbed our hands, literally danced us out of the village and showed us how to be happy again. Thanks for a very inspiring, emotional and eye opening trip to the lovely people of Tacloban... These experiences will stay with me forever."
In an interview with the media, Evanna shared that she is amazed with the resilience of the Filipinos despite the disaster.
"It's refreshing to me because in Ireland where people have everything, people can still be unhappy and can still be negative. But here, they all are just so positive," she said.
The survivors in Tacloban are very thankful for all the help that they have been receiving. All our prayers are still with everyone who were hit by Typhoon Yolanda.
Maraming salamat, Evanna!
