It was another successful year for the Philippine Popular Music Festival!
The night was indeed another remarkable celebration for OPM as 12 talented Filipino songwriters introduce their own masterpiece to the music fans, interpreted by some of today's top OPM artists.
The Top 12 finalists battled it out Saturday night at the Meralco Theater for the Philpop 2014 Finals Night and it was really a difficult job for the panel of judges because each songwriter was able to put their own style and personality to their songs.
In the end, it was Jungee Marcelo's "Salbabida," which was interpreted by Kyla, who came out on top and bested 11 other finalists!
The second runner-up prize went to Daryl Ong's "Torpe" interpreted by Kris Lawrence.
The first runner-up award, meanwhile was given to Toto Sorioso's "Awit Mo'y Nandito Pa" interpreted by Aldrich Talonding and James Bucong.
According to Jungee Marcelo, his win was like an all-in-one experience like in Disneyland where you get the best treats from the world. "Having a dream singer, a dream competition, and winning the grand prize, I'm just grateful," he said during our MYXclusive interview with him.
Kyla, the song's interpreter, shares that she feels blessed about being able to interpret "Salbabida." "This is such a powerful, beautiful song na anyone would love to interpret it," she said.
