LYCA GAIRANOD Scavenged Junk Before 'The Voice Kids'

Nine-year-old Lyca Gairanod’s performance of “Basang Basa sa Ulan” with the pop rock band Aegis earned for her a standing ovation during
“The Voice Kids” Finale on Sunday night, but she also went home with P1 million in cash prize.

The young belter from Tanza, Cavite, was proclaimed grand champion of the ABS-CBN reality show “The Voice Kids,” garnered the highest votes from viewers during the two-night finale. 

Lyca has a heartbreaking story. She was 6 when her mom discovered her singing talent, they'd both scavenge for trash they can sell and her father is a fisherman. And sometimes, the young girl would surprise me by bringing home food or money—from their neighbours who ask her to sing. Recently, a resident from Cavite posted a video of the young singer's humble beginnings and it already hit 100,000 "likes" on Facebook. Check out the video below!
