OPM royalty Paolo Valenciano takes the spotlight with the release of his first solo album titled "Silence/Noise."
"Nakakatakot na exciting. This is something very new for me. I've been with Salamin for ten years and all of a sudden to do something like this. There's a lot of fear but there's also a lot of excitement. I'm very proud of the songs na ginawa namin," said the 30-year-old musician-turned-concert-director and frontman of rock band Salamin.
A year and a half in the making, "Silence/Noise" features a collection of alternative rock tracks, which, according to him share a side of him that people have never seen before.
This is an unquestionable soft rock gem, fueled by his fierce devotion to songcraft and his flawless execution.
"We purposely overproduced the album because of the sound we're trying to achieve," said Paolo in his usual unassuming personality.
With contributions from master songsmith Ebe Dancel and Zel Bautista of indie band December Avenue, the album takes on a literary approach pulling on the heartstrings, but it does so also with a slight, accessible pop arrangement and a truly lovely melody. The overarching romantic sentiments of the tracks would turn all cheesy and silly with the hands of lesser artists, but Paolo makes it all work in this exemplary soft rock album.
