Raymund Marasigan's last statement for every episode of MYX Tugtugan is "Go out and form a band!", that statement is turning out to be an advice for young and upcoming musicians. The Very First took that advice and is now one of those upcoming cubs poised to join a pack of lions in the Philippine band scene.
The Very First is formed by Ael Tandoc (lead guitars/vocals), Tres Dalandan (bass/back up vocals), Vin Lorenzo (session rhythm guitars, Prologo/Sushi Monster) and Moby Aragones (drums/back up vocals). The band is one of the newest players in the power-pop music game.
They has just been around for a few months having started the group last January 2011, they've already played with some of the best bands in the country namely Soapdish, Stonefree, Chicosci, Mayonnaise, Blue Boy Bites Back and Rivermaya.
The Very First aims to write and perform songs with straight-up lyrics and melodic hooks, they are also set to perform in exciting venues around the metro (See their gig schedules below) and also record an EP set for launch by the last quarter of 2011. A music video for their first single (which is yet to be determined) is also in the drawing board.
Their originals is a buffet of power-pop songs that you once can rock out and groove along to. Titles are ôSabi-Sabiö, ôPaano Sasabihinö, ôHere Beside Meö, ôIsipö and ôNever Will Iö.
If it is true that it is a combination of the artist, their music and hard work that makes up an act then æThe Very FirstÆ deserves a good listen.
