It's official! Vanessa Hudgens is making some broadway-buzz! This American-Filipina actress and singer will be making her broadway debut in the title role of the revival of "Gigi"!
“I’m stoked,” Vanessa said at a recent Global Green USA event. She added, “I love the play so much! I love Gigi—she’s so adorable. She’s so much fun."
Gigi - the 1973 musical by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, is a French novella about a young Parisian girl being groomed and trained for a career as a courtesan. Gigi features the memorable songs like “Thank Heaven For Little Girls,” “I Remember It Well,” "The Night They Invented Champagne," “It’s a Bore,” "Say a Prayer for Me Tonight" and more!
We all know and fell in love with Vanessa Hudgens in her younger years playing Gabriella as she starred in Disney's High School Musical! The series catapulted her singing and acting career to a wider audience as she played more mature roles in movies and has made two solo albums: "V (2006)" and "Identified (2008)"! Vanessa has also done theater in her past, as she played Mimi Marquez in "RENT" at the Holywood bowl in 2010.
Although Vanessa admitted that she is quite terrified for Gigi, she still remains positive to keep her motivated as she said, "do the things that scare you though!"
We stay positive as well and know she'll do great as Gigi! Now, as she debuts her broadway act, Vanessa proves that she's got what it takes - the pipes, the moves and charisma - for the broadway musical limelight!
