A World-Record Crowd Of 6-Million Devotees Show Up For Pope's Final Mass At Luneta!

Despite the wet weather from Typhoon Amang, nothing stopped the Filipinos to attend the most memorable and grand mass celebration with Pope Francis at Luneta! It was one of the world's biggest crowds for a Papal devotion, as the charismatic and beloved Pope Francis attracted the numerous and passionate Catholics of our country, all ready to celebrate mass with him! They all let their joyous mood overpower the gloomy skies which made Pope Francis more than happy and surprised with the turnout!

Pope said to the entire crowd, "The Philippines is the foremost Catholic country in Asia. This in itself a special gift of God, a blessing." He added, "But it is also a vocation. Filipinos are called to be outstanding missionaries of the faith in Asia."

The crowd size was given to us by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino, who said, "we have it at six million."

According to the man who acted as the pope's chaperone throughout his visit and Archbishop of Manila Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, he told reporters that Pope Francis was stunned by the enormous crowd!

"I can not fathom the faith of the simple people," Tagle quoted the pope as he said those words after the mass was over.

To just hear, see and/or celebrate a mass with the beloved Pope Francis is a one-of-a-kind and truly remarkable experience that will remain in the hearts of anyone! That is why, even if some Filipinos only got to see the Pope for a short while, they still said it was all worth it!

"The pope is an instrument of the Lord and if you are able to communicate with him, it is just like talking to God himself." - Bernie Nacario
