American soul and R&B legend Ben E. King has passed away at age 76!
As the lead singer of The Drifters, Ben was the voice behind late 50s hits like "There Goes My Baby" and "Save The Last Dance For Me". But he is best known for his solo single "Stand By Me" which first became a US Top 10 hit in 1961. The iconic anthem achieved the same feat in 1986 when it became the theme song of a coming-of-age movie of the same title. "Stand By Me" has been covered by countless artists including John Lennon and was even sampled by Pinoy rapper Andrew E in his track "Banyo Queen".
