The Canadian teen idol is growing up! He's turning 18 this coming March and he's already got his future figured out -- to be as famous as Michael Jackson and to maintain his squeaky clean image.
In an interview with V Magazine, the pop star said, "Hopefully by the time I'm 30 people will remember me. I don't want people to just think of me as a teen sensation."
"I'm never going to make myself so the kids and the parents don't respect me," he added. "I want to be able to do what Michael (Jackson) did -- he always sang clean lyrics...I don't want to start singing about things like sex, drugs, and swearing."
He also acknowledged the fact that he still has a lot of growing up to do, and while longevity in the industry is uncertain, the Biebs is dead set on staying.
"It's not a fluke that I am here. I am here for a reason, and I am here for a lifetime," he said. "I also want people to know that I write my stuff. No one writes my stuff for me."
