Former Disney princess Demi Lovato beat our superstars Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Rihanna to win favorite pop artist at this year's People's Choice Awards.
Lovato performed the song "Give Your Heart a Break" at the awards show, off her emotionally charged allbum "Unbroken," which was released after recovering from an emotional breakdown back in 2010.

Big winners at the awards show were conspicuously absent including "Firework" singer Katy Perry and the cast of "Harry Potter."
Perry, who pulled out of the show following the split with husband Russel Brand, won five trophies including best female music artist, favorite song for "E.T." and favorite tour headliner. The last installment of the "Harry Potter" franchise was also a big winner with four awards, including best movie and favorite ensemble cast.
The People's Choice Awards kicks off the awards season in Holloywood leading to the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. Unlike the latter two, however, winners of the People's Choice Awards are determined by fan votes.
