While Lady Gaga openly shares her admiration for Madonna, it appears that the love may not be mutual.
During a recent interview, the "Material Girl" was lukewarm in answering questions about Gaga's music, calling it "interesting" and "amusing," abs-cbnnews.com
She told ABC News, "I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it's amusing and flattering and well done." She added, "There's a lot of ways to look at it. I can't really be annoyed by it... because obviously, I've influenced her."
Both divas are known for their risquT music, so people can't help but compare, especially after the release of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" single last year which was instantly likened to Madonna's 1989 hit "Express Yourself."
"When I heard it on the radio. I said, 'that sounds very familiar,'" Madonna said. Asked if that felt annoying, Madonna responded, "It felt reductive."
Cynthia McFadden of ABC then asked whether that was a good or bad thing, Madonna replied "look it up."
