Celebrities Grieve Over Death of Grammy-Winning Singer Etta James

Award-winning jazz singer Etta James passed away at the age of 73 due to complications of leukemia, reports.

She was diagnosed "terminally ill" by her physician last year, citing leukemia, dementia and kidney disease as some of her many illnesses. James is best known for her contributions to rhythm and blues with songs like "The Wallflower," "I'd Rather Go Blind" and her popular rendition of the the Gordon and Warren song "At Last" (Watch the video). Her music was re-introduced to a whole new generation when she was portrayed by R&B star BeyoncT Knowles in the 2008 film "Cadillac Records."

"Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time. I am so fortunate to have met such a queen," BeyoncT posted on her website. "Her musical contributions will last a lifetime. Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist. When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter. She was fearless, and had guts. She will be missed."

Upon news of her death, other celebs took to Twitter to express their grief over the loss of a pioneering musician.
