Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul put the "X" in "X Factor" after Simon Cowell gave them the boot on Tuesday due to a lackluster first season.
In what has been called a reality TV "bloodbath," the acerbic judge and the show's creator has also booted TV host Steve Jones, leaving him and record producer Antonio "L.A." Reid on the panel of the singing contest.
In a statement, Simon sent out "a massive thank you to Paula, Nicole and Steve for being part of 'The X Factor' last year." Adding, "Now is the time to thank them all for everything they did last year."
Simon's good friend, Paul Abdul, has also spoken out about the show's shake-up. In a statement, she said, "Yes, it's true; I won't be returning to The X Factor next season. I've learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions often times override personal considerations. Simon (Cowell) and I, along with Fox and Fremantle, have been communicating about this for a while now, and I have absolute understanding of the situation."
Nicole Scherzinger, meantime, tweeted: "I wanted to let you know directly from me that it's true I won't be returning to The X Factor. Looking forward to an exciting year ahead and making great music and more! I'm grateful for the love you always give me."
What do you think about Simon's decision?
