Whitney Houston's Cause of Death May Have Been Drowning

The autopsy is complete, and while cause of death cannot be determined until the toxicology report is finished, reports are saying that Whitney Houston could have very well drowned.

The singer has been reportedly drinking the night before and authorities believe that the combination of alcohol and Xanax (a prescription drug used to treat anxiety) could have "fatally sedated her." However, it is still too early to draw conclusive findings.

According to TMZ, the singer was found in the bathtub with her face underwater. Furthermore, the position of the body suggests that she slid down the back of the tub. Whitney Houston's hairdresser went in to check, concerned that the singer has not come out after over an hour. One of the bodyguards reportedly pulled her out of the tub and performed CPR before the paramedics arrived.

The Grammy Award-winning singer and actress Whitney Houston passed away at the age of 48 (Aug. 9, 1963 - Feb. 12, 2012). She was pronounced dead at 3:55PM on Saturday, Feb. 11 (Sunday, Feb.12, at 7:55 AM in the Philippines). (See related article)
