Lav Diaz's 8-hour masterpiece Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis will be shown in local cinemas starting Black Saturday, March 26! The internationally-acclaimed film starring two of the biggest actors of this generation - John Lloyd Cruz and Piolo Pascual - will be brought closer to the Filipino audience with the help of Star Cinema!
Lav Diaz described his newest film as "a more intimate look into an important part of Philippine history"! The award-winning filmmaker also mentioned that the superb, eye-opening movie has elements of Filipino literature and mythology!
Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis made waves in the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival last month - bagging the Alfred Bauer Prize which is given to a feature film that "opens new perspectives on cinematic art"! It also stars Cherie Gil, Alessandra de Rossi, Sid Lucero, Angel Aquino, Susan Africa, Ronnie Lazaro, Bernardo Bernardo, and more!
According to Direk Lav, your eight hours will not go to waste in watching this film! In fact, he notes that you will not really feel that it's an eight-hour film because every scene is worth your attention! Plus, there will be intermissions during the screening so the audience can take up to 30-minute breaks.
