Adele Breaks Whitney Houston's Chart Record

Boosted by six wins and a well-received comeback performance at the Grammy awards, Adele's 21 has drawn its biggest sale to date, replacing Whitney Houston's "The Bodyguard" as the longest running No. 1 album by a woman, reported.

According to Adele's Columbia Record label, 21 has sold over18 million copies worldwide since its release in February 2011. The boost has also extended to her previous album, 19, which sold 87,000 copies.

Meanwhile, the late Whitney Houston also got a boost in sales following her tragic death. Seven of her albums re-entered the Billboard chart this week, with "Whitney: The Greatest Hits" compilation rising to No. 2, after selling 175,000 copies. In addition, the single "I Will Always Love You" took the No. 2 spot in the Billboard Digital Songs Chart.
