Alicia Keys unveiled the new heartfelt song "Blended Family (What You Do For Love)" from her forthcoming sixth studio album Here.
Dedicated to blended or non-traditional families, the track which features A$AP Rocky is very sentimental and personal for the Grammy-winning artist as it talks about her own situation at home. In 2010, she married producer Swizz Beatz who has children with his ex-wife, R&B singer Mashonda.
In a statement on her website, Alicia said that the song is special for her and her family. "The understanding, compassion and support we've found is a powerful testament to the healing that comes when we choose love. Especially for the kids... the most important part of our lives." She also celebrated Mashonda for their commitment and support to each other.
"Hey, I might not really be your mother / That don't mean that I don't really love ya / And even though I married your father / That's not the only reason I'm here for you / I think you're beautiful / I think you're perfect / I know how hard it gets / But I know it's worth it."
