Warner Brothers Pictures first announced that Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them will have a sequel. But during a global fan event in London, its creator and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling revealed that she plans to have five movies in all!
The livestreamed event's question and answer portion went on for 45 minutes with the movie's director David Yates, producer David Heyman and actors Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler when Rowling suddenly emerged and surprised the fans with her big news!
The writer explained that they knew it'll take more than one movie for the story but was not sure how the story will go and finally said, "I’ve now done the plotting properly, so we’re pretty sure it’s going to be five movies."
The cast members on stage were also surprised because like the fans, it's their first time hearing the about the movie's extension!
The movie follows the adventure of fictional author cited in the Harry Potter series, Newt Scamander, as he discovers the magical creatures in New York. It takes place 70 years before the Harry Potter series.
Fantastic Beasts hits theaters November 17th, 2016 while the second and third sequels are slated for release on November 16, 2018 and November 20, 2020.
