Lorde turned 20 yesterday, November 7. And to cap it off, the New Zealand-born singer posted an emotional note for her fans which includes an update on her highly-anticipated sophomore album.
According to Lorde, her 2013 debut album Pure Heroine was "[her] way of enshrining our teenage glory, putting it up in lights forever so that part of [her] never dies," and hints on the next album as "about what comes next." The singer-songwriter revealed she's in New York to get the album done. "I just need to keep working a while longer to make it as good as it can be. You'll have to hold on. The big day is not tomorrow, or even next month realistically, but soon."
On the Facebook post, the "Royals" hitmaker also reflected on her decision to withdraw from the public eye. She said: "I started to discover in a profound, scary, blood-aching way who I was when I was alone, what I did when I did things only for myself. I was reckless and graceless and terrifying and tender." And that she wrote on the record everything she learned, realized, and discovered in the past year.
