LOOK: Most Heartbreaking Exits!

Stanning a boyband or girl group means loving each member wholeheartedly. So when someone decides to leave, you can't help but feel personally victimized. Get those tissues ready as we relive the most heartbreaking exits in modern pop history!

Camila Cabello

Fifth Harmony has been constantly plagued by breakup rumors especially when Camila branched out of the American girl group on more than one occasion - collaborating with Shawn Mendes and Machine Gun Kelly. Harmonizers also noted how she seemed more in sync with Taylor Swift's squad than her own band as shown in various photos of holidays spent with the pop star.

So it was not much of a surprise that she would be the first to bolt 5H. Fans just didn't expect that it would happen so soon! According to the group's statement: "After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony."

Camila countered with her own statement: "I was shocked to read the statement the Fifth Harmony account posted without my knowing. The girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations about the future that we had during tour. Saying that they were just informed through my representatives that I was 'leaving the group' is simply not true."

Geri Halliwell

Fans of the Spice Girls can definitely relate to what Harmonizers are going through now. May 27, 1998 will go down in history as the day Geri famously quit the phenomenal group.

"It felt like it had grown into this huge monster, bigger than the individuals, bigger than the band itself," she recalled on Oprah: Where Are They Now? "Obviously there was a bit of ruction in the band, and I was thinking 'You know, I just don't want to do this anymore. It was like, 'You're getting on my nerves and I don't know how to talk this through, so I'm out of here.' It was quite immature, looking back."

Mel B, Mel C, Emma, and Victoria continued as a foursome before going on indefinite hiatus in 2000. However, the ugly past been buried since Geri joined the ladies during their 2007 comeback tour and at the 2012 London Olympics. In fact, she's on board for a Spice Girls mini-reunion in 2017 with Emma and Mel B.

Justin Timberlake

All good things must come to an end, just like NSYNC. The 90s boyband composed of JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, and JT was behind hits like "This I Promise You", "Bye Bye Bye", and "It's Gonna Be Me". At the height of the group's popularity, they went on hiatus after wrapping up their Celebrity tour in 2002.

Justin used that time to "try my own hand as a musician, just by myself" - releasing his solo debut Justified later that year. But after the success of his first album, he never returned to the group and went on to become one of the biggest solo performers.

It seems that all is well among the former bandmates despite the sudden split. They even reunited onstage when Justin was honored with the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award at the 2013 VMAs. The five guys also came together to celebrate JC's 40th birthday this year.

Zayn Malik

Hopefully, Directioners won't have to wait that long to see the original five members in one photo again. Never in a million years did One Direction fans see a life minus one member of the band! It was devastating, heart-crushing, gut-wrenching for the fandom when 1D announced that Zayn will no longer be a part of the band. It felt like their whole life stopped!

Zayn told fans in a statement: "I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."

It seemed he was taking a dig at his ex-bandmates when he signed a solo record deal and said he's now making "real music". But as Zayn explained to The Fader, he didn't have any creative freedom while in the band. "If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as f--k, so they could use that version."

After not being on speaking terms, it seems Zayn's icy relationship with his former pals is slowly thawing! First was the handshake with Niall during the AMAs. Then came his supportive tweet to Louis after his mum's passing.
