Mariah Carey's last performance for 2016 didn't quite go the way she hoped it would.
The diva was among the performers at the annual Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve in New York. In celebration of its 45th anniversary, Mariah's return would've made the show extra special as the singer has the distinction of being the first entertainer to headline the live performances in Times Square back in 2005.
However, as fate would have it, the singer struggled to keep up with the music as her vocal track had malfunctioned during her performance of "Emotions" and "We Belong Together".
Viewers took to Twitter and weighed-in on her lip-syncing fiasco. Some even claimed that 2016 claimed yet another victim - her career.
The singer later tweeted, "Shit happens. Have a happy and healthy new year everybody! Here’s to making more headlines in 2017.”
Mariah Carey has been caught lip syncing as well back in 2015 as she mouthed the lyrics to “All I Want for Christmas Is You” during Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
