The local rock scene is very much alive!
This year's Rakrakan Festival proved once again that Filipino rock music is thriving it as fans enjoyed the music of their favorite OPM heroes from late noon until midnight. Five different stages - Slam, Mosh, Move, Indie, and Groove stages were able to unite the finest OPM bands and unite local rock fanatics as well.
With the objective to not just to liven up local music but also hopes to raise awareness about drug abuse and addiction, bands shared their thoughts on how everyone who loves the local music scene adheres to the government's campaign against the drug prevalence in the country.
The Mosh Stage was among the favorites of fans during the latter part of the night with bands like Faspitch, Philia, Typecast, and Rocksteddy taking the stage.
Slapshock, one of the most sought-after bands in this annual Rakrakan Festival treated their Slap Army with a hard-hitting live performance debut of their new single "Atake"!
Slapshock successfully set up and executed the "Wall of Death" with the crowd during "Atake" as seen in this short live clip posted on their Facebook account.
Valley Of Chrome was also among the night's crowd favorites. The five-piece metal act made everybody jump at the Slam Stage during their late night set.
Moreover, PNP Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa performed with Dello and Banda Ni Kleggy on the Move Stage last weekend!
Chief Bato jammed to the song “Darating” with Kleggy Abaya and Dello on the Move Stage, making those in attendance cheer wildly. The PNP Chief also gave an inspirational speech to his audience about avoiding the perils of using illegal drugs. "Sana po kayong lahat, ay susuporta sa ating war on drugs. Wala pong ibang hangad ang ating presidenteng Rodrigo Roa Duterte kundi linisin ang ating Pilipinas", Dela Rosa told most of the festival goers. "Stay high with music, not with drugs", he further added.
PNP is in full support of Rakrakan Festival this year because for the first time its theme is "OPM Against Drugs". Though Bato said that back in his time, rock and roll is always associated with illegal drug use. But he was quick to say,"Pero ngayon, sa nakikita ko, ang daming grupo ngayon, ang daming rakista – music lang, music! Walang drugs."
With the success of this year's Rakrakan Festival, everybody hopes to experience this amazing rock fest again next year.
