Like any other artists, Mariah Carey seemed to draw song inspiration from heartaches and breakups. Her recent split with Australian billionaire James Packer led to the conception of a new emotional ballad titled I Don't.
In the season finale of her reality series Mariah's World, the pop diva talked about the end of her relationship with Packer, "Ever since the tour wrapped I took some time just to process my feelings, and I started writing a song to express what I've been going through. And if you're not getting the love that you need from someone that you're supposed to be in a real relationship with, then why remain in that situation?”
The 46-year-old singer dropped a preview of the song before its official release on February 3. She can be heard singing some of the lyrics, "Said you would always be mine, feeding me nothing but lies," "Probably think I'm coming back, but I don't, I don't." and “Cause when you love someone/ You just don't treat them bad/ You messed up all we had/ Probably think I'm coming back/ But I don't, I don't.”
