SHE DID IT! Jessica Sanchez makes her way to the "American Idol" finals! She is the first finalist of American-Asian decent to reach the last round of the show.
Joshua Ledet, one of the show's most powerful voices, failed to make the cut. Phillip Phillips will face Jessica in a sing-off next week in a 2-hour show on May 22. The results will be announced May 23. The winner will get a record deal.
Jessica performed her own take of one of Steven Tyler's most memorable hits, "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" and commented, "You just took a great song and made it greater!". Judge Jennifer Lopez knew for a fact that the Aerosmith front man never liked covers of his songs.
Her other laudable performances were Mariah Carey's "My All" as chosen by the judges and Jackson 5's "I'll Be There" from mentor Jimmy Iovine.
