Thumbs-down signs and "Stop The Lady Gaga Concerts" banners - The group of people present last Friday said that they were offended by Lady GagaÆs music and videos, specially her song ôJudas,ö which they say illustrates a negative connotation of Jesus Christ. The video shows Jesus and his disciples as a motorcycle gang and tells the story of JesusÆ betrayal, with Lady Gaga playing the role of JesusÆ girlfriend. She is torn between her loyalty to Jesus and her love for Judas.
The mayor of Pasay City, Antonino Calixto, said in a statement that he expects the shows to be held in accordance with government regulations stating that he ensured ôthey follow the rules and regulations stipulated in the concert permit earlier provided by the city government.öôAlthough we respect artistic and musical expressions, I wonÆt allow anyone or any group to provide acts which may be questionable in a way at any venue under my jurisdiction,ö
he said in a statement. ôWe reminded the producers
(Ovation Productions) of Lady GagaÆs concert that the show and the event as a whole shall not exhibit any nudity or lewd conduct which may be offensive to morals and good customs.ö
Protest leader and former Philippine Congressman Benny Abante says his group plans to file a case against Lady Gaga and concert organizers if she sings ôJudasö at her Manila gigs.
So do you think Gaga should go through with the concerts or should she pack up and go home? Tell us what you think!
