LOOK: LORDE Reveals Her New Album Was Inspired By Aliens

Kiwi singer-songwriter Lorde revealed in her According to a recent interview with Rolling Stone that her latest offering, Melodrama, was said to be inspired by extra-terrestrial life!

The "Royals" hitmaker shared how she imagined the concept of the record to be like a group of aliens getting introduced to life on Earth. "I remember writing about the first step outside," she says. "These aliens have just lived in this hermetically sealed environment, and so what does the first step outside feel like?". The concept is similar her personal experience of having to step into something new and move away from her 2013 debut record, Pure Heroine.

Lorde also said in the interview that she has synesthesia- a neurological condition in which she see music as colors and feel it as textures. Having a civil-engineer father and a poet-laureate mother, Lorde was able to develop her abilities that gave her an "overwhelming sensory experience of the world."
