One of the most iconic OPM bands, Rivermaya, has signed with Star Music!
After the long wait, the 90's rock band returns with a brand-new label and creative effort. The group - which now consists of Mark Escueta, Nathan Azarcon, Mike Elgar and Ryan Peralta - believes Star Music is the best partner in continuing the music of the band.
"We're very honored and excited na makakatrabaho namin ang Star Music," original member, Mark, said during our MYXclusive interview. "Gusto talaga naming makarating [yung mga bagong music] sa karamihan at siguro Star Music na yung perfect partner to spread the word."
New musical treats are already aligned for the group - their upcoming first single "Manila" off their 12th album Sa Kabila Ng Lahat.
"First meeting pa lang [with Star Music] sobrang ok na ok na yung pakiramdam namin," shared guitarist Mike. "First time nilang narinig yung songs namin parang swak agad e'. Walang 'bakit ganyan' or ''di ko gusto 'yan'. Parang ano sila, 'pwede, pwede'... So exciting na pareho kaming naniniwala doon sa material."
The completed album has eight original songs about "love in different forms", as they called it, which they plan to release this year.
Now as part of the Star Music family, Rivermaya wishes to work with fellow artists Yeng Constantino and Manny Pacquiao, friends Gloc-9 and Ebe Dancel, and Mark's wife, Jolina Magdangal.
'Sa kabila ng lahat', 23 years to be exact, the music legends are nothing but thankful to fans' undying patience for their comeback masterpiece. "Excited kami sa collaboration na ito at abangan niyo ang mangyayari in the next few months. At yung mga nandiyan na nanonood at sumusuporta sa Rivermaya since 1994, thank you very much! Para sa inyo pa rin 'to at sana makwento niyo na rin sa mga kabigan niyo na, 'Oy, may bagong album Rivermaya. Tara pakinggan natin'," Mark said.
