Chances are, you've heard Astrid S but had no idea she's the uncredited voice on your favorite songs. FYI, the newcomer has been featured on tracks by Matoma, Avicii, Shawn Mendes, and The Vamps.
A finalist on Norway's version of the Idol franchise, Astrid S has actually been in the music scene for around 5 years. After recording with other artists, she realized that it's finally her time to be in the spotlight. In 2016, the singer generated buzz in her homeland and across Europe after releasing "Hurts So Good", a passionate synth-pop track about a couple in a toxic relationship.
With her honest lyrics and graceful vocals, we have no doubt Astrid S could be the next big thing. Aside from receiving multiple Norwegian Grammy award nominations, she also joined Troye Sivan in his European and North American tour.

MYXph.com caught up with Astrid S via email! Read on as she talks about her newest single, growing popularity, keeping up with this generation's top acts, and more.
MYX: How do you keep up with the artists of this generation? Do you feel any kind of pressure?
Astrid S: I think you just have to be yourself. I love how my generation has social media, and I love to share everything from what I eat, wear or do with my followers. Hopefully that will give them a better understanding of me as an artist and also my music.
MYX: What makes you stand out from them?
Astrid: I think my voice and personality. I try my best to write songs that has some of my personality in it and brings out the best in my voice.
MYX: Who are your musical influences?
Astrid S: A lot of different artists and songs. I'm not influenced by one specific artist. I've been listening a lot to Flume, Tove Styrke, Dua Lipa, and Louis The Child lately.
MYX: What drew you to write your new single "Breathe"?
Astrid S: I was just very happy in the studio. It was a good day, the sun was shining. I was in LA, and my mood was just really good. So everything just came very naturally. I started with some chords I liked, and then we made the melodies.
MYX: How did you come up with its music video?
Astrid: I worked with two amazing directors, Cherry Cobra Films, on the music video. We mixed and matched my ideas with their ideas, and it turned out to become an action movie travelling through time. We tried to remake some of the most known action movie scenes.
MYX: What advice can you give to other young aspiring artists?
Astrid S: Be yourself! Don't try to be someone else, or copy others. Do what makes you comfortable, and show them your personality. And most important of all: Be nice to everyone and hard working.
MYX: What's next for Astrid S?
Astrid S: I'm going on a big tour this fall in Europe, Norway, North America, Australia, and New Zealand! And my EP comes out 30th of June.
MYX: Do you have plans to visit the Philippines?
Astrid S: Not yet, but I would love to come!
MYX: What is your message to all your Filipino fans?
