BIGBANG member T.O.P was charged of smoking marijuana whilst his mandatory military service but authorities are yet to conclude if he's a continuous user.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, the K-Pop idol tested positive from a hair follicle test and have already forwarded the case to the higher office. T.O.P denied then saying, "I only smoked electronic cigarettes and I didn't know it was marijuana", Soompi reported.
Initial investigation suggested that the singer had used the substance since last October, a few months before his enlistment as a police officer in the same agency back in February 2017.
Shortly after the charges was made, his agency YG Entertainment released an official apology. "First and foremost, we would like to apologize," the statement read After confirmation, we have learned that Choi Seung Hyun (T.O.P's real name) did in fact admit to the charge of smoking marijuana before his military enlistment, following through with all investigative measures by attending the police's investigation in the midst of his public service duties and deeply reflecting on his actions afterward. Once again, we apologize for worrying so many people."
The use of the banned drugs in South Korea is penalized with a maximum of five years in jail or a fine of up to 50 million won.
