MYX Charts Flashback: July 27, 2006

Exactly 11 years ago, Kamikazee’s smash hit “Martyr Nyebera” was at the top spot of the MYX Daily Top 10!

The comical music video which was inspired '70s martial arts movies featured actresses Rica Peralejo playing the whole of a badass housewife while Kaye Abad also lent her voice to the song about unconditional love.

It's director, Avid Liongoren, was also the mind behind the 2016 animated film, Saving Sally. The style of the music video is very much similar to last year's Metro Manila Film Festival entry.

“Martyr Nyebra”, whose title is obviously a pun on the name of iconic singer Martin Nievera, talks about someone being a 'martyr' for his or her partner. This song has been a staple of Kamikazee’s live performances and is one of the most successful singles from their Maharot album.

Let's look back at this Kamikazee classic below!
