American rock band The Flaming Lips played eight concerts in eight different cities to hold the Guinness world record for most number of shows in 24 hours. The band, which hails from Oklahoma, started with a show in Memphis, Tennessee on Wednesday US time. They accomplished the feat in New Orleans the next day.
The previous record was owned by Jay-Z when he performed seven shows six years ago. The rapper flew across the US on his private jet while The Flaming Lips used a bus. The band's record-breaking gig was streamed on the internet and was part of an awards show honoring musicians who made their marks online.
