Dolphy has been laid to rest today at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig. The whole nation is in mourning as we bring a comic icon to his final resting place.
Jay Contreras remembers the King of Comedy saying Dolphy influenced him a lot and even referring to the late comedian as a "Master". "Malaking impluwensiya sa akin ni Master Dolphy. Personally isa siya sa mga komedyante na napanood ko dati na natural lahat, walang effort, 'yun siya!," says Contreras in a phone interview.
The Kamikazee frontman compares his performances on stage with Dolphy's saying: "Hindi lang siya komedyante kumakanta din siya at magaling din siya sumayaw, so may point na parang 'yun din ang ginagawa ko ngayon."
Contreras says they may represent different art forms, as Dolphy acts on TV and cinema while he is in a rock band, but finds similarities in their intentions of bringing entertainment to their audience. "Pareho kami ginagawa namin yung gusto namin at nakakapag-pasaya kami ng tao,"Contreras says. He ends our conversation by paying his last respects to the Philippine's Comedy King: "Salamat Master Dolphy. Rest in peace."
MYXph.com joins the entire Philippine entertainment industry in honoring the late Comedy King Dolphy. Salamat at paalam po, Mang Pidol.
