A Song About Motherhood: Alanis Morissette's "Guardian" Will Premiere On Tomorrow!

After 4 years since Alanis Morissetteæs last release, the singer-songwriter is set to release her eighth studio album Entitled Havoc And Bright Lights, an album which deals with themes of motherhood (Morissette wrote and recorded right after giving birth to her son Ever), politics, spirituality and philosophy.

Her first single "Guardian" is said to be about her relationship with herself as well as with her son, "It's about the care I have to offer myself in a way I never have in the past in order to sustain wifehood and motherhood," adding "This record, as always, is a snapshot of what I currently obsess about, care about, and what strikes me at 4 in the morning in my most introspective moments, she said.

"It is my emotional, psychological, social and philosophical commentary through song. I can't wait to share it with this fun and funny planet, and to tour, and can't wait to have the lively, engaging and challenging conversations that these songs may invite."

Alanis explains the video and mentions the video as an ode to "Wings of Desire" :

sharing the video for 'guardian' with you ... a sweet moment indeed, because of how much I love this song, and how much I love the sentiment of inner/outer parent(s) being attuned to our inner and outer lil precious ones, and how getting guidance from spirit helps the maternal/paternal navigation at every turn..... annnd.... my new bandmates are in the video... all marking this official new chapter. an ode to wim wenders 'wings of desire' on its 25th anniversary. and ne'er a wrong time to celebrate Germany, art, our tender humanness and the kindness and steadfastness of our guardian angels.

xxxoo love you
