If you are an aspiring musician or a professional artist who wants an awesome experience, this invite is for you! The 2012 Elements National Singing and Songwriting Camp will be bringing together musicians from all over the archipelago to enhance their sense of musicality. The camp encourages participants to create music by learning from the "masters" and also aims to enrich the local music scene.
Guitarist/songwriter Mike Villegas joins the camp for the first time this year as one of the mentors. "Nakakataba ng puso. Validating siya as an artist na ma-invite ka as a mentor. I would have been happy enough as a camper," says Villegas, who is an OPM legend in his own right. Mike was a member of 90s alternative rock band Rizal Underground; the group behind the classic song "Bilanggo". He has also collaborated with solo acts such as Aiza Seguerra and more recently with Cathy Go.
"I expect to learn from theses kids. 'Yun naman ang importante eh. You walk out of these things richer," he said. He encourages you to join and support the Elements camp. "Napaka-palad ninyo at mayroong mga tumatangkilik at sumusuporta pa sa OPM in this regard. It's not a cheap endeavor pero everybody involved wants to do it for you," Villegas added.
60 campers aged 18 to 35 years old from all over the Philippines will be chosen to join 20 mentors on November 18-22 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. The application period is only until next Friday, August 31.
