Green Day lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong is the star of the latest YouTube video to go viral, and is now reportedly seeking treatment for substance abuse! The band frontman had an onstage meltdown at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas just a few days ago. Armstrong wasn't happy, to say the least, when he got the cue from event organizers that he had one minute to wrap up the set. In the middle of playing their hit "Basketcase", the band stopped abruptly and Armstrong started his onstage outburst shouting "I'm not f---ing Justin Bieber, you motherf-----s. You've got to be f---ing joking ... I got one minute left." "Let me show you what one f---ing minute means," he finally said, before he and bass player Mike Dirnt smashed their guitars and the whole band walked off the stage.
Green Day said sorry to their fans on the band's official website posting: "Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by (event promoter) Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances."
All this comes as the band is about to come out with a trilogy of albums, their first set of releases since 2009. The California-based punk rock band has sold more than 65 million records worldwide and won five Grammys, including best alternative album for its 1994 major-label debut, "Dookie," and best rock album for "American Idiot" and "21st Century Breakdown."
