More bad news for Green Day fans. While frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is still under treatment for substance abuse, the band has announced that they are forced to cancel their upcoming shows. The punk rock trio has cancelled their fall bar tour and will be postponing concerts scheduled for the early part of next year.
"Obviously the timing for this isn't ideal, but Billie Joe's well-being is our main concern," said bassist Mike Dirnt on their website. He then thanked their fans for the support and for wishing them well. Armstrong underwent rehab after his guitar-smashing meltdown during a show in Las Vegas last month.
The Grammy-award-winning band is also moving the release of their upcoming album to an earlier date to make up for for their cancelled shows.
