SPONGE COLA Proves That "Less Is More" With New EP

Big things come in small packages. And we're not only talking about this band's vocalist! =)

Sponge Cola has chosen to release an EP rather than a full-length album because they say they wanted to try something they have never done before. And it has been a good move for this four-piece rock band because after just a week from it's release, "District" is on top of the album charts of the major record bars!

The "Diamond Record" band's latest release has made them one of local music's hottest commodities once again, with it's lead single "XGF" featuring Los Magno and Chito Miranda gaining extensive airplay. The second song from the EP called "Mahaba Pa Ang Gabi" continues the band's streak of radio-friendly hits, with its zombie-apocalypse-themed music video currently occupying the #6 spot on it's fourth week on Pinoy MYX Countdown.

When asked why they called the album as such, frontman Yael Yuzon answered: "'District' represents a fraction of a bigger whole, which is like the EP compared to a full-length album. This is a short burst, a sprint rather than a long run. This is also our way of shaking things up."

Nothing but good things have come the band's way this year including sold-out performances all over Asia and the Middle East; represented the Philippines at the Du World Music Festival in Dubai; and performing at the Beale Street Music Festival along side a variety of foreign acts such as Al Green, Evanescence, Pit Bull and Wiz Khalifa.

"District" is now available online and at leading record bars nationwide. It has 6 tracks including "It's About You Girl" featuring Sitti, which the band says is the female perspective of "XGF".
