Two of the biggest female artists in music will be competing for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes next year: Adele's Bond theme "Skyfall" and Taylor Swift's "Safe & Sound" from "The Hunger Games."
Other nominees announced Thursday morning for the gala event held on January 13 include Bon Jovi's "Not Running Anymore," from "Stand Up Guys," the Keith Urban co-penned "For You," from "Act of Valor," and "Suddenly" from "Le Miserables."
Adele released "Skyfall," last October 5 and it became the singer's first single to debut in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #8. It has sold over 1.9 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
"Safe & Sound," Taylor's breathy ballad featuring (and co-written by) Joy Williams and John Paul White of The Civil Wars, as well as T-Bone Burnett, peaked at #30 on the Hot 100 and has sold 1.4 million copies, and last week was nominated for two Grammys, including Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
