Moonstar 88 marked their 14 years of existence in the OPM scene with a special gig held at the 70s Bistro last night. The band's fans and friends from the industry all enjoyed a night of good music and lots of reminiscing.
Talata, Callalily and 6cyclemind warmed up the stage before Moonstar88 dished out their 14-song set list! Reyg Linao of Talata, Corporate Lo-Fi's Leo Sano, 6cyclemind's Rye Sarmiento, Kamikazee's Jomal Linao, Kean Cipriano of Callalily and Eunice Jorge of Gracenote took turns in jamming with the band.
Original drummer Popo Pineda and Ney Dimaculangan were also on hand to witness the event. The new video for "Ligaw", this time featuring Parokya ni Edgar's Chito Miranda, was also premiered.
Loyal fans also got to take home some goodies as they brought along Moonstar 88 memorabilia.
MYXPH.COM got to ask the band what drives them to continue playing music together. "Enjoy lang kami! Hindi namin nakikitang trabaho 'tong ginagawa namin. So walang pressure sa 'min", said guitarist Herbert Hernandez. "Honesty, friendship... and lots of money," vocalist Maysh Baay jokingly said.
Bassist Paolo Bernaldo says that it's just hard to imagine how his life would be without music. "Sobrang natutuwa kami na 'yung Moonstar tumagal nang ganito katagal," Bernaldo stated.

Hernandez also expressed his gratitude to their fans. "Malaking tulong sa success talaga yung mga nakikinig sa 'min. Yung mga nagtitiwala sa 'min. Kasi kahit matagal kami mag-labas ng album, nandiyan pa din sila. Kaya kami parang laging na-e-excite gumawa ng kanta kasi laging may naghihintay eh," he said.
Moonstar 88's current album "This Year"
