MYX honors the internationally-known, award-winning Broadway singer-actress Ms. Lea Salonga as we give her the MYX Magna Award recognition tonight at the MYX Music Awards 2013.
Filipino singer-actress across the globe, Lea Salonga was known for her lead
role of Kim in the worldwide-musical Miss Saigon. With her performance, she was given recognition by several award-giving bodies including the very prestigious Tony Award.
The Tony award-winning singer-actress is also the first Asian to play the roles of Eponine and Fantine in the famous musical Les
Miserables on Broadway.
Named as the Disney Legend in 2011, she was the voice behind
Disney Princesses Jasmine in Aladdin and Fa Mulan in Mulan and Mulan II.
Some of her unforgettable theater plays include "The King and I," "Annie," "Fiddler on the Roof," "The Sound of Music," "Grease" as Sandy and "They're Playing Our Song" as Sonia Walsk, among others.
As we recognize Ms. Lea Salonga's success both on Broadway and the music scene locally and internationally, some of the biggest OPM artists today, Julie Anne San Jose, Erik Santos, K-La Rivera, Juris, Richard Poon, VJ Nikki Gil, Christian Bautista, Rachelle Ann Go came together to perform the hits she was known for, "I Am But A Small Voice," "A Whole New World," "We Could Be In Love," "Reflection," "Sun And Moon" and an all-star performance of "Tagumpay Nating Lahat."
"The biggest award came from these incredible people," Ms. Lea Salonga referring to those who performed on stage. "It's an amazing thing to be part of this industry. Nakakataba ng puso."
As an advice to those who are planning to enter the music industry, the MYX Magna Awardee had this to say, "Love this more than anything else. There can be nothing else. If you have the passion, you belong here."
