The winners are in!
It was a big night for Gotye, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift at the Billboard Music Awards.
Gotye, who's single "Somebody That I Used To Know" sold 7.3 million downloads, won a total of four awards: Top 100 Song, Top Radio Song, Top Streaming Song (Audio) and Top Rock Song.
Rihanna on the other hand, swept all three R&B awards plus the Top Radio Songs Artist award giving her a total of four for the night. She won Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Album for "Unapologetic" and Top R&B Song for "Diamonds."
"Unapologetic" gave Rihanna her first Billboard 200 No. 1 album when it debuted on top selling 238,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It is with the same album where she earned her 12th No. 1 single on the Hot 100 chart with "Diamonds."
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber, whose current "Believe" tour was filled with controversies for the past months, was one of the night's big winners as he received the Milestone Award.
The 19-year-old singer bagged three awards including Top Male Artist, Top Social Artist, and the first-ever Milestone Award. Aside from the three awards, Bieber also took the stage twice when he performed his song "Take You," and "#thatPOWER" with will.i.am.
When he took the stage to accept the Milestone Award, Bieber heard some boos from the crowd and took a minute or two before finally saying a word.
"I'm 19 years old, I think I'm doing a pretty good job and basically, from my heart, I really want to say it should really be about the music. It should be about the craft, the craft that I'm making. This is not a gimmick. I'm an artist and I should be taken seriously and all this other bull should not be spoken of. I want to thank my manager, Scooter Braun. I want to thank my family at home. I want to thank my mother, my father. I want to thank Jesus Christ. Mom, I love you so much. Dad, I love you. Little brother and sister, I love you so much. Thank you guys so much. Fans, you are incredible," said Bieber.
It was this year when Justin Bieber made Billboard history when his album "Believe Acoustic" debuted at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart making him the first artist with five No. 1 albums before reaching the age of 19.
But the night belonged to its biggest winner Taylor Swift, who took home eight awards: Top Country Song for "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," Top Country Album and Top Bilboard 200 Album for "Red," Top Country Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Artist.
"Thank you for making my music the soundtrack to your crazy emotions. You are the longest and best relationship I've had," said Swift when she accepted the Artist of the Year award.
