Tired of the same old stuff you hear on mainstream radio?
Craving for cool, current and crisp homegrown music?
We got to ask multi-instrumentalist and MYX Tugtugan host Raimund Marasigan which of the new Pinoy bands coming out does he dig.
He said he is very excited about Save Me Hollywood, composed of former MYX VJ Julz Savard, guitarists Aaron Corvera and Kenneth Aranza, plus Chicosci's Calde Calderon and Typecast's Melvin Macatiag completing the rhythm section.
"They're very exciting live and bago din 'yung music nila, bagong style," said Marasigan.
Save Me Hollywood's music video "High" currently occupies the #10 spot on our Pinoy MYX Countdown
He also mentioned synth rock band Identikit with singer/songwriter Sandy Buladaco at the helm, Joe De Jesus on guitars, Darrel Ballesteros on bass and Manny Marinas on the drums. Check out their FB page here
Raimund has also been listening to the demo of indie rock band Read Between The Lions. The CD's track #6 called "Fascinator" could be sampled here
"Identikit and Read Between The Lions parang indie rock naman," said Raimund who will be doing a concert for our "kababayans" in Singapore with The Eraserheads on August 10.
Last but definitely not least on his list of OPM young blood is all-female band Flying Ipis.
"Punk rock, eh! Panks! (laughs) ...they've got the biggest balls sa live set ngayon, so I love them."
The band members are Deng Garcia on lead vocals, Ymi Sy on guitars, Iris Jumao-as on bass and Gaki on drums.
Get to experience Flying Ipis as they launch their album "Give Ipis A Chance" on Saturday, August 3 at Cubao X!
