As we commemorate National Heroes' Day today, we got to ask Sitti about her personal heroes. Here's her story about how her real name serves as a reminder of the women she admires.
"My real name is Sitti Katrina Navarro Baiddin. The name Katrina was given to me by my Mom kasi gusto niya lumaki ako like Atty. Katrina Legarda and Katrina Ponce-Enrile because they're women of strength. Dati kinukwento lang sa akin ng Mama ko and now, of course I want to be like them. I want to be a strong woman; someone like them; someone who's not afraid to stand up for what they believe in; someone who would fight for other people, not just for themselves; and for the principles and values that they believe in; so I wanna be like them!"
When asked who she thinks are heroes for her in the music industry, she cites Stevie Wonder as one of them.
"We all know that Stevie Wonder is physically handicapped pero that did not prevent him from really expressing himself musically and creating all of these beautiful songs and all of these timeless classics. So I wanna be like Stevie Wonder para kahit na may isang avenue na mawala sa akin, I still want to be there, still singing still giving what I can musically."
