The upcoming world welterweight championship rematch between Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten titleholder Timothy Bradley Jr. is one of the most highly anticipated boxing events of the year as their first fight last 2012 ended with highly controversial decisions.
And on April 12, fans who will gather at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas will be receiving a special treat. The Grammy-award winning singer Ashanti has accepted Pacman's request to sing the national anthem!
Manny turned to Twitter to announce the good news.
His announcement coincided with the Foolish hit-maker's forthcoming album, "BraveHeart" -- her comeback album after her six-year hiatus.
Ashanti seems to be really looking forward to the event too and says she'll be rooting for Pacquiao, "I'm such a huge fan of Manny Pacquiao! I have family in the boxing business - (1976 Olympic gold medalist) Howard Davis, Jr. and (light heavyweight contender) Dyah Davis," said Ashanti. "When I found out we were sitting next to each other courtside at the Knicks game, I said to my Dad, 'We should take a picture!' I told Manny I was a big fan and was so excited when he asked me to sing the National Anthem at his upcoming fight and I can't wait. I actually love boxing! Manny's such a champion and I can't wait to cheer him on!"
